A serving Deputy Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command has threatened to kill a businessman for buying a property close to his house in Jemita/ Yola.
The serving Officer, Ibrahim Babazango DCP, when contacted said ” my neighbor sold the house to a businessman without waiting for me, after I have indicated interest to buy the property”
“Believe me, I cannot guarantee his safety if he insists to buy the property because as it is we live like brothers in this area so for an outsider who is not from this part to buy a property in these areas is unacceptable”
” I have reported the matter to the District Head of Jemita and I will also take him to court”
The buyer of the property, Mr. Vincent Umeh told our correspondent that he bought the property late last year,l had no problem with owner, we went through due process, agreement was entered and payment was made.
“I was surprised when I received a call from a man who introduced himself as a Police officer and neighbor to Alhaji Ismail Mamman who sold the property to me”
The man who I later found out to be a serving senior police officer in Lagos, in a recorded conversation with him, ” he he can not guarantee my safety that he had told him that he was interested in the property”
I have reported the matter to the police but I am not sure of the police taken actions because he is one of them, Mr. Umeh said.
When contacted, the vendor of the property, Alhaji Ismail Mamman said ” the property is my property and I sold it to Mr. Vincent Umeh, all the documents were duely signed by me and my brother as witness between me and the buyer, Mr. Vincent and in the presence ofa Lawyer after we reached agreement”.
“I had apporched him, my neighbor DCP Ibrahim Babazango that I want to sell my property, he said he will contact his brother but no response so I sold it to who brought money”.
I have no problem with the buyer.
