The Network of Civil Society Organisations in Borno State (NECSOB) has expressed concern over the recent spate of attacks on communities across the state and urged for more security collaboration to contain the situation.
The network in a statement by its Executive Director, Comrade Bulama Abiso, described as tragic the recent attacks in Kukawa, Dikwa, Marte, Ngala, and Damboa LGAs.
“These attacks, which have resulted in significant loss of life, undermine ongoing resettlement efforts and threaten the fragile peace that has been gradually restored.
“NECSOB extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire people of Borno State. NECSOB commend the ongoing efforts of the government and security agencies in combating this insurgency.
“However, NECSOB urges a comprehensive reassessment of current security strategies, with a particular focus on strengthening collaboration with community groups. Proactive information sharing and timely, effective responses are crucial to mitigating these threats.
“Recognising the valuable contributions of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in maintaining security within Borno State communities, NECSOB strongly advocates for a strategic meeting between CJTF leadership and other relevant local security groups.
This will facilitate stronger collaboration, enhance collective efforts to combat insecurity and foster closer ties between formal security forces and local actors.
“NECSOB stands ready to support these initiatives and urges all stakeholders to prioritise the safety and well-being of the people of Borno State,” the statement added.
