Christmas: Borno Governor’s Wife Donates Foodstuff, Cash To Widows

Wife of Borno Governor, Hajiya Falmata Babagana Zulum has distributed foodstuff and money to 500 Christian widows and displaced persons to enable them celebrate Christmas.

Presenting the items which comprised a bag of rice, gallon of vegetable oil and N10,000 to each of the beneficiaries, Falmata said the gesture was to give them a sense of belonging at this festive period which required sharing with the needy and loved ones.

She urged them to use the period to pray for peace and prosperity of the state and nation in general, adding that without peace no society will developed.

The governor’s wife also used the occasion to cautioned the public on second wave of COVID-19 and the need to observe safety protocols.

In her remarks, leader of the widows, Asabe Dalagu, who described the support as timely, urged other philanthropists and organisations to emulate the gesture.

“We are happy and grateful, and would continue to pray for you and the state for this show of kindness at this critical time of need.

“We are really going to have happy Christmas celebrations and will not miss the joyous moment to pray for peace and prosperity in our land.

“Borno Government deserve commendation for sustaining this culture of reaching out to the underprivileged in times of need,” Dalagu said.
