The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) for extending the ongoing Permanent Voters Card (PVC) registration and urged all nomads to take advantage of the opportunity to register.
The National President of the association, Khalil Mohammed Bello made the appeal on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri .
Bello said the extension was a welcome development to all nomadic groups who want more time for their members in hard to reach rural areas to be able to participate.
Bello also call on Federal Government to establish the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries for proper attention in tapping the potential of livestock and fisheries.
According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture is not giving adequate attention to livestock and fisheries.
“95 per cent of the ministry of agriculture attention is tilted towards arable farming to the detriment of livestock and fisheries sectors,” Bello said.

While urging nomads nationwide to embrace peace and guard against reckless cattle rearing, Bello also urged farmers to guard against encroaching into cattle routes and grazing reserves.
“We both need each other’s support to succeed in tapping the rich potential in agriculture,” Bello said.
The KACRAN president lauded the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for carrying cattle rearers along in its intervention programmes in Northeast and urged other organisations to emulate it.
He also urged for more funding of NEDC to adequately deliver on its mandate.
“Our members are fully captured in NEDC’s programmes like empowerment and provision of water points for human and livestock, ” Bello said.
