Borno Senator Empowers 1,720 Constituents 

Gov Zulum and Sen Kaka Shehu at the ceremony in Maiduguri

 

Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan of Borno Central Senatorial District has presented farm inputs, block moulding machines, sewing machines, grinding machines and tricycles to 1,720 people in his constituency. 

Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Maiduguri, Kaka Shehu said the gesture was to empower them and ameliorate the current hardship in the society. 

“I want to thank you for giving us the mandate to represent you and to assure you that we are not going to let you down in the area of quality representation and empowerment.

“We have just started with 1,720 people and will continue to do our best to cushion the effect of the hardship being experienced as a result of the economic meltdown,” Kaka Shehu said.

He said that his constituency office would soon be in full swing in hosting periodic town hall meetings with constituents on issues to be addressed. 

The lawmaker lauded  Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Babagana Zulum and party leaders for their support and guidance.

Flagging-off the distribution, Governor Zulum lauded the senator for the intervention which he said would go a long way in complementing government interventions in addressing poverty.

The APC Deputy National Chairman North, Ali Dalori, and the Borno Chairman of APC, Bello Ayuba, also lauded the support which they said was inline with the party manifesto. 

They urged beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity to be self employed. 

Items distributed comprised 500 grinding machines, 500 sewing machines, 250 water pumps, 250 deep freezers, 100 generators, 20 tricycles, 50 block moulding machine.

The beneficiaries are also given N20,000 each by the senator as transport fare.
