Borno Government has rolled out postgraduate scholarship programme for indigent students studying science courses.
The Executive Secretary of Borno State Scholarship Board, Mallam Bala Isa, made this in Maiduguri while briefing newsmen on the programme.
“His Exellency the Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has opened up postgraduate scholarship opportunities for Borno State indigenes in the area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
“The scholarship is in line with the 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative of the State Government..
“This initiative is designed to enhance and bridge the existing human capacity gab in the state.
“Therefore candidate with Msc, Phd admission in some selected universities in Africa, Asia and United Kingdom are to apply through the Borno State scholarship board website,” Isa said.
He explained that in Africa the selected universities were in Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa, while in Asia the selected universities were in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Pakistan.
According to him, postgraduate students studying science courses in Nigerian universities are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
He added that the scholarship board’s website had been opened to receive applications from Aug. 4 to Oct. 30, 2023.
