The Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), is to revoke land titles of some owners in Government Reserved Areas (GRA) and nine other layouts in Maiduguri who failed to update within December.
The warning is contained in a statement on Friday by the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Engr. Adam Bababe.
Bababe said the affected persons in new and old GRAs among others had been given notice three years ago to update their records but failed to comply.
“The Borno Geographic Information Service wishes to bring to the attention of title holders of the 10 layouts under the BOGIS Pilot scheme which were issued notices since June 2020.
“Government shall revoke all titles that fail to update their records, develop/submit building plans by 3Ist of December 2023,” Bababe said.
He noted that the noticed issued those concern aligns with the Land Use of 1978 and Borno Land Use Regulations 2022, which mandated the documentation of all landed properties within the state.
“Individuals concerned are urged to approach the Agency to perfect their documents to prevent government revocation of their Lands”.
Bababe listed the affected plots as: “NEF/78 & 78 covering the whole of GRA but not limited to commissioner’s quarters, NNDC, Doctors quarters and all sub division within the areas.”
Others include Polo area, Jiddari, former House of Assembly Quarters, Lagos Street South, Forestry Quarters, Damboa Road North, and all disposed Government Quarters in the area.
