Borno Attacks: GOC Visits Task Force Battalion In Marte

The Acting GOC of 7 Division, who is also the Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brig.-Gen. Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has visited the 50 Task Force Battalion New Marte to motivate troops.

A statement from a military platform said the visit was part of the GOC’s operational activities in 24 Task  Force Brigade Area of Operation.

“The visit was a follow up to some operational reversals suffered by the unit, to inject a shot of adrenaline into the veins of the brave soldiers as he commended their unwavering dedication to duty in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram Terrorists and their Islamic State of West African Province counterparts.

“On arrival, the GOC was received and conducted round the unit where he assessed facilities and combat readiness of the battalion.

“He added that his visit was a testament to his commitment to the welfare of the troops under command.

“While addressing the troops, the GOC emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and discipline in the face of adversity. He urged the troops to remain steadfast,  focused and committed to their duties, assuring them that their efforts would ultimately lead to the defeat of the terrorists.

“His words of encouragement were met with enthusiasm and determination, as the troops reaffirmed their resolve to protect their locations and the good people of Marte.

“The GOC further held a durbar with the soldiers, where he listened to their concerns and provided guidance on how to overcome the challenges they face in the line of duty, charging them to deal ruthlessly with the terrorists and their counterparts,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the GOC also took measures to enhance Civil-Military Relations in the area where he addressed members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Hunters and traditional leaders commending them for their effective contributions in the fight against the terrorists.

“He urged them to keep providing vital information that would aid the military’s operations in the area. Stressing that the military would continue to work with all relevant stakeholders towards achieving a sustainable peace.

“Furthermore, the GOC assured the troops of all necessary support to enhance their operational effectiveness in line with the Chief of Army Staff ‘s Soldier First Concept, emphasizing that they would be provided with all required logistics support to enable them to win all land battles . This gesture was a significant morale booster, as the troops felt valued and appreciated for their sacrifices.

“The highlights of the visit include donations of military  kits (camouflage uniforms and combat boots) amongst other logistics support, display of physical fitness by troops through push-up exercise where the GOC led the troops as a show of camaraderie and shared determination leaving the troops with renewed vigour, momentum and motivation to tackle the challenges ahead,” the statement added
