The All progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has denied the rumors being circulated by some mischief makers, that the ruling party was involved in the burning of PDP office in Banki town during Wednesday Senatorial campaign in the area.
APC in a swift reaction has condemned in strong terms the said campaign of calumny against the law abiding members of the party, pointing out that the PDP has no any structure in Banki let alone party office.
Putting the record straight as a resident of the area and a stakeholder, Babagana Yusuf Banki, disclosed to news men that, some PDP thugs on the eve of the APC rally erected a temporary shed made up of thatch roof smoking indiscriminately just to show the little presence of the opposition party with deliberate intention to foment trouble and gain cheep popularity.
Yusuf added that it was the PDP thugs who upon sighting the APC campaign procession, stated abusive words and throwing stones which led to the damaging of some vehicles belonging to APC members.
“APC members chased them away, it is the cigarettes left over used by the PDP thugs that ignited the fire that eventually resulted to the destruction of the shed,” Yusuf said.
He said that not a single Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was involved as alleged by the PDP as none of them was seen in the purported video now in circulation.
He urged members of the public, particularly APC supporters to disregard such mischief makers and challenge the opposition PDP members to come out with any concrete evidence to back up thier allegations against the ruling party.
