Blackout: Rep. Jaha Empowers 400 Youths With Generators

Rep. Ahmed Jaha reprenting Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency of Borno has distributed 400 mini generators to saloon owners and other small business groups whose work depends on electricity.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony on Wednesday in Maiduguri, Jaha said the gesture would help the beneficiaries whose businesses depended on electricity that has been lacking for many months due to insurgency to have alternative.

Jaha said another 380 beneficiaries were giving grinding machines to eke a living as they recovered from the insurgency.

“We also giving out 150 sewing machines, 80 deep freezers, 70 tricycle, while 1,500 petty traders will be given 20,000 each to boost thier businesses,” Jaha said.

He also announced the presentation of three ambulances for the three clinic rehabilitated and equipped under constituency project.

“I want to put it on record that all things provided here are not from my pocket, its under constituency project we put in the budget to address the plight of our displaced people.

“I want to commend the North East Development Commission, National Centre for Women Development, NDIC and Institute of Horticulture Development for thier contributions, ” Jaha said.

In his remarks, Gov. Babagana Zulum lauded Jaha for his quarterly empowerment interventions and urged others to emulate him.

“I am impressed by your honesty in telling the people where the support is coming from.

“Some dont even bring the support talkless of where it come from”, Zulum said.

He urged beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity to improve their livelihood.

Some beneficiaries who spoke, lauded the lawmaker for his quality representation and support programmes, pointing out that this is the 10th time he is doing such empowerment programme.
