Binani suffers setback as 7k supporters ditch her, shift loyalty to APC leadership
The fortunes of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Aishatu Ahmed Binani has nosedived as no fewer than 7,000 supporters ditched her vowing to shift their loyalty to the state leadership of the party.
The support group, popularly known as the Binani Support Group, with over 7,000 membership has stoutly and vigorously championed Binani’s ambition to govern Adamawa State in the build up to the highly disputed 2023 governorship election.
Announcing his group’s resolve to dump the female politician, the coordinator of the group, Mallam Mutawab Haruna, said the move aims to foster unwavering unity and cohesion in the party, adding that the party will be the better if all members work towards the unity and cohesion of the party than aligning with individual ambition.
He noted that as a consequence, the group has decided to renounce any affiliation with Binani by dumping its adopted name, Binani support group and reverting to its original name the APC Youth Development Forum Adamawa Northern Zone in the interest of peace unity and cohesion.
The coordinator stated that the renewed move mirrors the group’s cardinal goal of entrenching unity, selflessness and the overarching zeal to ensure the victory of APC in all elections come 2027 general polls.
“The group’s cardinal goal is to ensure the promotion of party ideals and manifestos and to enhance unity, cohesion and success of the party at all levels,” he said.
Haruna thanked the state leadership of the party for extending olive branch to the members of the Binani support group despite their refusal to mainstream their activities with the state secretariat.
“We are here to reiterate that our loyalty is to the party, not to Binani or any individual. If Binani decides to leave the party, we wish her good luck, but our commitment is to the unity and progress of the APC,” Haruna added.
