Bauchi Youths to host Youth Entrepreneurship Summit

A group, Bauchi State Democratic Assembly (BSYDA) will host a two-day first High-Level summit on Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship from May 24 to May 25 in the state.

Mr David Yankoli, the General Secretary of BSYDA disclosed this in an interview with Newsmen in Bauchi.

He said arrangements have been concluded for the summit which would catalyze Youth-Led Enterprises in partnership with Bauchi state government and relevant stakeholders.

“The summit will bring together senior government officials, employers and workers’ representatives and development partners to agree on a new roadmap for Youth Employment that will scale up actions for youths in the state.

“The two-day summit will address the most pressing issues relating to youths and decent work in the state, the interactive platform will provide an opportunity to share the latest initiatives, results, and priorities ahead for the government and employers of labour,” Yankoli said.

According to him, we are youth platform coming up with a new narratives, being stakeholders in politics and governance with a bottom-up approach, to help solve the unemployment crisis facing our nation and Bauchi youths.

He said that the summit would explore avenues from different sectors that has potentials to absorb thousands of youth from the street.

“In achieving these, we have selected six sectors of Agriculture, ICT, Health, Environment, Education and Security. But in the first phase, we are focusing on Agriculture and ICT,” he said.

Yankoli explained that the objectives of the scheme were to fast-tract the development of agricultural sector and enhance National Food security and reduce cost of credit in agricultural production and increased output.

He pointed out that the initiative would also generate employment, increase revenue base for government, increase foreign exchange, GDP, target agricultural commodity and value chain production.

Yankoli added that the ICT initiative would also create employment opportunities through establishing ICT Hub in the state.
