Army Organizes WASA In Monguno

The Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai/Multinational Joint Task Force has on Friday observed the 2021 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) at the Kinasara Cantonment in Monguno, the headquarters of Monguno LGA in Borno.

This is contained in a statement  by Maj. Ojo Ifedayo Adenegan, the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Sector 3, Monguno.

According to the statement, WASA is an old  age tradition in the Nigerian Army which started in the colonial era where officers and men along with their families and friends come together once a year in a relaxed atmosphere to show case their various rich cultural Heritage, to mark the end of the preceding year and usher in the New Year.

In his welcome address at the occasion, the Commander 3 OP HADIN KAI and Multinational Joint Task Force, Maj.Gen. G.M Mutkut,  urged the troops to sustain the current tempo in the fight against insurgents in the area.

Mutkut said that the onslaughts on insurgents has led to many  sucesses.

He thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya for his sustain support in the provision of new platforms and equipments to the sector and the army in general, which he said has continue to boost troops morale.

“The Special Guest Honour at the occasion, Chairman of Monguno Local Government Area, Hon Alhaji Kyari Ibrahim, expressed his appreciation  on  the good synergy between the Sector and Local Government.

“He promised to ensure the synergy is sustain. During the occasion, Cultural Troupes like the popular Kanuri Cultural Troupe, Gangakura and Toji Tar showed case their Cultural Heritage.

“Other activities at the occasion attended by the District Head of Monguno, Baba Wakili Mustapaha and members of Non Governmental Organisations include Tug of War, cultural dances and burnfire among others,” the statement added.
