The All Progressives Congress in Adamawa has formally flagged up it campaign and mass mobilization of voters for Saturday Local Government Election in the state.
Addressing the crowd at the flag-off ceremony in Yola, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal, urged for unity to ensure the party’s victory in the poll.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustafa, represented by the former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Sa’ad Tahir, cautioned against rigging by the state led PDP government and tasked APC members to vote and protect their votes.
Former Gov. Muhammadu Bindow in his address, berated the Gov. Fintiri administration for embarking on mass retrenchment of government workers.
Bidow who is still challenging the victory of Fintiri in court said APC was hopeful of victory to reclaim the mandate and return the workers.
“I have hope of bouncing back as governor and urged the people of Adamawa particularly those marginalised by this PDP administration to pray for APC return.”
Bindow who was represented by a former Adamawa Speaker, Alhaji Hassan Turaki, urged APC candidates for the chairmanship and councillorship in the election to face the election with confidence, adding that the conflict in APC that led had been resolved by the party’s Reconciliation Committee.
Speaking on behalf of APC National Assembly members from Adamawa, Rep. Abdulrazak Namdaz, said national lawmakers from Adamawa would mobilize voters for the party candidates in the election.
He also warned PDP against rigging saying APC was adequately mobilized to contain all forms of electoral malpractices.
“One thing I want the electorates in Adamawa to know is that APC is fielding better candidates with experience, ranging from former lawmakers to commissioners.
“Dont allow anyone to intimidate you as we are set to checkmate any attempt to rig the election,” Namdaz said.
Also speaking on behalf of APC members in Adamawa House of Assembly, former Speaker Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa said members of APC in the state had learnt their lesson when they entered the last general election as a divided house, adding that they were now united and would go into the council poll as one family.
He said that the past administration of Bindow provided jobs, while Fintiri recent sack of workers would make the election a smooth ride for APC.
Other speakers including Mallam Nuhu Ribadu represented by Alhaji Uba Dan Arewa, party elders, Youths and Women leaders of the party, all spoke on the need to work together during the election for positive result
Highlight of the flag-off is the presentation of party flag to all the chairmanship candidates of APC in the 21 LGA of Adamawa.
