It appears that the intractable leadership tussle in the Adamawa/Taraba State chapter of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is yet to be over as a factional chairman of the association, Alh Dahiru Buba said he remained the substantive chairman of the association in the state.
Buba who made the position during a chat with newsmen in Yola urged all law abiding citizens to distance themselves from a purported dissolution of IPMAN exco by some group of charlatans parading themselves as national leaders of the association saying that their action was a charade taken too far.
“I heard that yesterday some fifth columnists came to Yola and conducted what will just pass as a child’s play in the name of our great union.
” That activity is an exercise in futility as it contravenes the 1997 constitution of our great union and also the judgement passed by the supreme court which declares Alh. Sanusi Fari as the substantive national chairman of our union.
“I’m elected to serve as chairman for three years and as at now I only served for one year, meaning that I have remaining two years in office.
“I can only vacate office after serving my three year tenure as nobody born with blood can make me leave the mandate given to me by the teeming people.
“This charade will fail like many others as I will deploy all resources to challenge this round of impunity as I have been defeating their attempt to hoist anarchy in the association in the past,” Buba said.
Buba said it was shameful and preposterous for those people who said they have dissolved his exco to make such pronouciations as he never recognized them in the first place.
“I have no business with a group of renegades who have a great deal of contempt for the court of law as their stance as the leaders of the association is against the verdict of a supreme court which affirms Alh Sanusi Fari as the national chairman of our association.
“I and my exco do not recognized them, so whatever decision they took at their kangaroo meeting is null and void and I shall challenge that in the court,” he said.
The national exco under the leadership of Chinedu Okoronkwo has yesterday dissolved the two factions of IPMAN in Adamawa State saying they took the decision to usher peace and unity in view of the daunting challenges facing the association as a result of the passage of the PIA into law.
