Adamawa hospital supports bill for free treatment to elderly persons, accident victims, others

Medical Director of Specialist Hospital, Yola, Dr Saidu Bala, said the hospital fully supported the executive bill before the House of Assembly for a law on free treatment to elderly persons and accident victims.

Bala who spokes to newsmen on the bill, said the bill when passed into law would also cover children under five years and pregnant women.

“When we submitted out contribution on the bill, we also requested them to add gunshot victims,” Bala said.

On rehabilitation and road projects going on in the hospital, Bala said the intervention was from SDGs office in the Presidency.

While lauding Aisha Buhari for facilitating the SDGs project, Bala said under the project, walk-ways and 12 wards in the hospital would be rehabilitated.

“Already three wards had been completed. Our Accident and Emergency as well as Intensive Care Units will also be attended to alongside beds and beddings to be provided,” Bala said.

He also lauded the Presidential Committee for North East Initiative (PCNI) now known as North East Development Commission (NEDC) for assisting the hospital with ambulance.

Bala also lauded the wife of Adamawa governor, Mrs Lami Fintiri for her series of visits to the hospital to assist patients and urged for more support from government and NGOs to the hospital which he said attends to an average of 200 patients daily.
