Adamawa Government has directed the State Polytechnic (SPY), to right-size staff employed by the institution as from 2016 to October 2018.
The directive contain in a letter to the Rector of the polytechnic signed by Secretary to the State Government, Bashiru Ahmad, also directed that those employed from November 2018 to date should be “stand down”, while those who transferred their service from other organizations to the polytechnic should be return back to their former organizations.
The letter with no. SGS.12/52s1/T.I/69 titled “Re:Implementation of Recommendations of 2019 Visitation Panel to Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola”, urged the rector to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
“Based on reports in respect of the above exercise, you are hereby directed to develop genuine list of all those on transfer of service to the state polytechnic from 2016 to 2019, and redeploy same to their respective original places of work.
“To stand down all employments into the state polytechnic from 1st November, 2018 to date.
“To right-size based on needs of relevant departments, and this should be for the staff employed from 2016 up to 30th October, 2018, those who ultimately could not fit into the polytechnic shall be deployed to CSC for appropriate placement into state service, where possible.
“Ensure strict compliance, please,” the letter added.
Meanwhile, some affected workers have resorted to special prayers for divine intervention over the pending retrenchment and alleged non payment of their seven months salaries.
