Alhaji Saidu Naira, the deputy chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has accused the incumbent senator representing Adamawa North senatorial district, Sen. Elisha Abbo of attempts to kill him over political differences.
Naira in an interview with journalists in Yola noted that the senator personally led a group of thugs bearing guns and other dangerous weapons to launch the vicious attack on him during APC stakeholders meeting in Mubi North local government.
It could be recalled that the politician was attacked on election day while his pictures drenched in blood and torn clothes went viral in the social media.
“Sen. Abbo together with his thugs launched the vicious attack on me using guns and other dangerous weapons while we were conducting a meeting with stakeholders of the party in Mubi North. The meeting was attended by the incumbent member of house of representatives, former member of house of representatives and former member of house of assembly.
“And he attacked me for simply taking the election tags of the party to the local government. And the responsibility of taking such items rest on me since I’m the state vice chairman of the party.
“I was beaten to pulp, and recieved serious lacerations on many parts of my body and bundled into the booth of a car.
“I would have been killed if not because of the timely intervention of policemen who engaged the senator and his thugs in a shootout before I was rescued.
“It is preposterous for a leader in Abbo’s posture to descend so low to attack on people over political differences. I will challenge this impunity and attempt on my life through all legal means,” Naira said.
But denying the allegations, a media aide to senator Abbo, Micheal Bolgent said his principal could not descend low and attack people over political differences.
“Im not aware of the incidence. However, why would Abbo be after his life because of politics? We all have our difference when it comes to political ideologies and we respect that,” he said.
