Adamawa APC chair leads high-powered condolence visit to Buhari’s family in Daura
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Barrister Shuaibu Idris, has on Monday led the exco of the party to Daura, Katsina State, on a condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The delegation arrived at the family compound of the late President around 2:00 pm and were received by the former First lady Mrs Aisha Buhari, the son of the late president Yusuf Buhari, his siblings, and the younger brother to the former first lady, Dr Modi Halilu as well as other family members.
Speaking during the visit, Barrister Idris Shuaibu described the late President Buhari as “astute, austere, pragmatic, patriotic and a rare statesman whose impactful legacies will stand the test of time.
Shuaibu who expressed deep sadness but total submission to the will of Allah said apart from Katsina State, no state in the country was afflicted by the death of the former president like Adamawa State, because the former first lady is from the state adding that apart from being a role model and the nation’s moral compass, Buhari is also a son inlaw to Adamawa State.
He said Buhari’s contributions to national development, anti-corruption reforms, and his unvarnished commitment to Nigeria’s unity and security had earned him a revered place in history.
“President Muhammadu Buhari was a man of principle, deeply devoted to the ideals of nation-building. His incorruptible posture, resolve and passion for Nigeria stand him out amongst peers and contemporaries. Posterity will surely be kind to the late statesman,” he said.
He further noted that Buhari’s simplicity in office, discipline, and efforts at repositioning the country through infrastructure renewal and agricultural reforms would never be forgotten.
The delegation offered prayers for the repose of the late president’s soul and for strength to his family, especially the widow, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, and other relatives.
Responding through the eldest son of the late leader, Yusuf Buhari, the family expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by the APC in Adamawa and acknowledged the gesture as a reflection of the enduring bonds the late president built across Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari passed away recently at the age of 82 after a brief illness. He served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985, and later as civilian president between 2015 and 2023.
