The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has decried the destruction of the campaign posters and billboards of its gubernatorial candidate.
A statement by Comrade Shehu Yohanna, secretary of the party in Adamawa State accused the Fintiri led administration for ordering the destruction of the billboards across many locations in the state capital.
He noted that it is an invitation of anarchy for the government’s agents to deliberately destroy the billboards since his party has duly paid all dues and levies incurred in the process of putting the billboards.
“Our attention has been drawn to deliberate disfiguring, defacing and removal of our gubernatorial billboard which our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) erected in some strategic locations in both Jimeta and Yola metropolis by the government of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“The billboards which locations have been identified as Jippu-Jam, airport road and the ADC state secretariat close to Jimeta temporary stadium were deliberately destroyed by the agents of the government of the day.
“The ADC wants to state categorically that all the fine(s) and levies attached to the authorities concerned have been paid accordingly as stipulated by the law.
“Our great party view this as an attempt to de-campaign our collective aspiration to wrestle power from the PDP led government.
“The leadership of ADC as a Party will no longer guarantee a conducive democratic environment if such kind of anti-democratic behavior is not stopped
“The ADC in Adamawa equally want to use this medium to reaffirm it’s total support to the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (GCON) Wazirin Adamawa, the desired support to clinch the presidency in the 2023 presidential election,” the statement said.
