No fewer than 49 suspected kidnappers said to be terrorizing Taraba state, have been arrested, police sources have said.
This followed the ongoing ‘’operation forest storm’’ that was initiated last week by the Police in collaboration with sisters security agencies in the state.
Confirming the arrest the state commissioner of police, Alkasim Sanusi said that nine out of the suspects, while others were arrested at different locations in the state.
To this end, he prevailed on the need for the members of the public to provide the police with useful information about criminal elements in the state.
“I want to thank Taraba state government and other security agencies for supporting the police in its efforts to address cases of kidnapping in the state.
‘’However, I must also express dismay over the attitude shown by some residents on their unwillingness to provide useful information about the criminals that they are leaving together in the same area with, we need information to achieve,’’ he urges.
While commenting on the incessant communal conflicts been recorded where lives and properties been lost and destroyed in the state, Sanusi said, he was disappointed, and warned that,’’ if the killings happen again in any part of the state, religious and traditional leaders of the affected areas would be the first suspects to be arrested.’’
