The Northern Coalition for Good Governance (NCGG) has described the president Christians Association of Nigeria ( CAN) Rev. Samson Ayokunle as a hypocrite that is working hard to divide the country along religious lines.
While addressing a press conference on Friday in Jos, the spokesman of the group Dr. Ishaya Dimas, said the CAN president who he accused of turning the association into a Yoruba socio-cultural group, has no moral right to speak on who become the president of Nigeria.
” I challenge Ayokunle to tell Nigerians who are the officials of CAN and the ethnic group they belong to. He changed the Constitution of CAN just to stop northern Christians from contesting for the position of CAN President,” he stated.
The Northern group said they will resist all the evil plans of Ayokunle to turn CAN into political pressure group to enable him work for his pay master to become president come 2023.
Dimas pointed out that the concern of the group is to support the best candidate that can restore the lost glory of the country, but that where he comes from or his religion is not important to the group and Nigerians.
“Both christians and Muslims produced the president of this country, but where are we today, even our religions are they doing better, people use religion to get into power, but do they use the same religion to better the lives of Nigerians,” he queried.
Dimas advised Ayokunle, to join any of the political parties of his choice to work for his pay master instead of dragging the name of CAN into political mud for his selfish interest.
“We are aware that he is working for the vice president Yemi Osinbanjo, it is his right to support anyone he want, but our concern is he should not use CAN to oil his greedy lips,” he warned.
