From Umar Dankano, Yola
Some stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Yola South local government Area of Adamawa State have expressed dismay over alleged unguarded comments by incumbent federal legislator representing Yola South, Yola North and Girei federal constituency, Hon. Jafar Ribadu on the 2023 election.
The stakeholders faulted Hon. Ribadu’s claim insinuating that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has a preferred aspirant amongst those vying for the seat stressing that, the alleged information was incorrect aimed at achieving political sympathy.
Spokesman of the group, Jauro Modibbo during a session with newsmen in Yola weekend said for such statement to be emanating from a person of Ribadu’s status indicated that something is fundamentally wrong.
Modibbo explained further that the critical stakeholders in the local government are not happy with such divisive and unfounded claim which to the best of their findings remained an illusion and a pigment of Ribadu’s imagination as the party at the local government enjoys harmonious relationship with the Governor.
“All our findings have shown us that the Governor has been neutral and goes by the views of the people and has been encouraging aspirants and politicians to always contact their constituents.
“We are calling on Hon. Jafaru Ribadu to please sort out his political differences and challenges with his constituents and stop blackmailing Governor Fintiri who we hold in high esteem especially with remarkable achievements his administration has recorded and still counting,” Modibbo said.
According to Modibbo, the stakeholders in the council have resolved not to allow few ambitious and selfish politicians to create unnecessary disaffection amongst the good people of the area.
Effort to contact Ribadu on the matter was futile as calls put across to his personal mobile phone was not answered or returned as at the time of filing in this report.
