2023: 700 NNPP Members Defect To LP In Adamawa

…The defection happening at this time, before we could get to start any political activity is a pointer that Labour Party ‘ll labour less to win the support of the electorates – Otumba

No less than 700 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, have defected to the Labour Party, LP, in Adamawa state.

Receiving the decampees who are mainly from Yola South local government on Thursday in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti said it was a sign of success, the defection has indicated even before the party could get to start her political activities.

“We’ve not done anything. We’ve not started anything. You can attest by what you’re seeing here today that the Labour Party is a moving train.

“History is about to be made in this country. Gone are the days when you would be told you are Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. Gone are the days when we would be told that we’re sons and daughters of the poor. Gone are the days when people would tell us that you are educated and another person is not educated. Gone are the days when we would be told that some are occupying positions of authority others are languishing in poverty. Our intention is to liberalise Nigeria”.

Otumba has hammered on the recreation of foundational spirit with a sense of patriotic nationalism; the feeling of being a Nigerian. “And the only way to achieve this is to ensure that we vote credible people from top to bottom.

“At the helm of this movement, we have Barr Peter Obi. He was a governor in Anambra state for a period of eight years, he did what non of his predecessors were able to do. He Transformed Anambra into a most modern, highly urbanised state.

“Not only that, Dr Peter Obi has gone down in history, as the only governor who left office and left behind over seventy billion naira.

“He has gone down in history as the only governor who left behind over a hundred fifty million dollars.

“He has gone down in history as the only governor who refused to accept emoluments meant for him and his family.

“This gentleman is at the forefront, championing the course of Nigeria and Nigeria alone. We must therefore rise up to this great expectation. We must all put our hands together and vote Peter Obi as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

Otumba has called on the citizenry to join in the project for remaking Nigeria befitting for Nigerians as gone are the days when clueless, unpatriotic people bereft of conscience who would only but bamboozle the citizenry by tying the future in chains with huge debts are voted into power.

“We must throw out the PDP government. We must institutionalise the Labour Party government so that our people will have some succour in their livelihoods.

“Ladies and gentlemen, today as you can see, we have received Decampees from NNPP.

“From Yola, we have about five local governments ward chairmen that have decamped along with their executives cut across all the eleven wards of Yola South. Here we’re receiving about 700 people from NNPP.

“We’ve not even pasted even one poster. We’ve not placed our billboards. We’ve not started any commercial activity. We have not started any political activity yet, our people are beginning to see the light in our party. People are seeing the future in our party and they are coming forward.

“We must therefore ensure that we institutionalise this success. We must be able to maintain this success and forge ahead.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to seize this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for committing his time, leaving his home and place of work to come here. We’re happy because the Labour Party is no longer a small party. It is a party to beat. All the so-called bigger parties are now away. By the time we’re on speed, they’ll have no space to breathe. We’ll send them back to where they belonged,” Otumba said.

The cross sections of the decampees interviewed said they have withdrawn the membership from the NNPP to Labour Party because the latter is the party for the future that is capable of getting the country and state out of the maze.
